Could use some good thots...Snickers has IMHA

She was diagnosed this morning and they've begun treatment. She got to come home with me because she wasn't bad enough to need to stay but I have to watch her and they said she could "crash" and I could have to rush her to the e-vet at anytime. I'm really scared of losing her...

I've read too many of Callie's posts about Billy and IMHA not to be scared.

I'm so sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but you couldn't be better off than to have Callie to help you thru this. She's always a wealth of knowledge and having recently experienced the same thing, I know she'll be invaluable to you. Hang in there. I'll be thinking good thoughts for Snickers and you to get thru this.

Sorry to hear about this.  Good thoughts for you and Snickers to pull through this.

At least she has Aunt Callie to help her out.

I'm sorry about your scary diagnosis. (((((((big hugs)))))))) to you and Snickers, and lots of i-dog healing vibes and prayers, her way.

Let's talk on the phone tonight -- I can tell you tons, and I can tell you how to keep some of the costs down (when they run certain tests, why, etc.)

I'm so sorry -- but you CAUGHT it and that's a big deal.  And she's NOT a buffy coat cocker spaniel -- and that's the best news yet.

Oh, wow, Karen - you just can't catch a break!!!!  What a heavy thing to learn. I'm so sorry. But here's hoping some of Khoale's resilient healing powers rub off on Snickers.  Sending lots of strong healthy thoughts from Arizona!

Oh geez!  I'm so very sorry to hear about Snickers.  So many good vibes coming from me, Aspen, Grady & my Snickers.

Hey everyone... thanks for the good vibes.

I had some chicken/gizzards/spincach stew that I'd made for the dogs last night anyway and have been forcing some broth on Snickers in addition to putting pieces of chicken in her mouth and have gotten her to eat a little.

It was such a whim to bring her to the vet, I was actually not going to since her symptoms were so seemingly mild... not eatting for a day, refusing cheese and chicken, and looking lethargic/tired. I'm so glad I listened to DH who said basically, "she won't eat cheese? OMG bring her in right away :)" She does have a bladder infection and fever as well... the vet tech chased us around with a ladle trying to catch the urine in a blizzard :). It was funny in a sad way that I new all about this illness from callie's posts and those of the other dogs with this disease... when the vet came out and said I don't want to alram you but before processing the blood it began to "globulate/coagulate (some technical term) and that could mean..." I finished her sentence and the following sentences about prognosis, treatment, etc... to the point that she asked if I was in th emedical field. I said nope... just frequent an online dog board :)

Thanks Callie... I'd love to talk to you tonight. My phone number is changed.. I emailed you and put my new number in it. I'd also love to hear how to keep costs down... yikes the first visit not even to an e-vet ran me 500+! It's hard to stare at her and wonder if she'll respond to the prednisone, antibiotics, etc or if she'll "crash" as quickly as we've read some other dogs have right on this board.

My biggest fear is that the e-vet is 3+ hours away and we're having a huge storm... I'd be fearful I coudln't get her there soon enough. On top of it all my grandmother died this morning and I'm supposed to be flying out to the funeral in the couple days... how can I leave snickers like this? I don't think I can, but my family does NOT understand and I'll create a lot of bad feelings if I don't go.

Oh lor'.  I'm so sorry, seems to happen all at once doesn't it!  I hope you can work something out.  I'm thinking of you and sending good healy-type vibes for Snickers.

I'm so sorry to hear about Snickers and your grandmother.  If it's any solice, maybe grandmother will look out for your heart and take care of Snickers while you're gone.  Support systems - like your husband and this board - will make all the difference in the world.  Sending positive vibes your way!
