What causes bad breath? (Update!)

Yay! I hope Benny boy is all right... I bet he'll be fine. It might just be his diet. *crossing fingers for good news*

OK, the  vet says it's not gingivitis or anything like that.  She is concerned however, that it may be indigestion/heartburn maybe.  She has me giving him milk and cereal for breakfast every morning for a week.  If that clears it up, then that is what he gets forever, if not, then I am to try 5mg of Pepcid for 7 days.  If that doesn't work, then I have to contact her to get him on some antibiotics (I hope it doesn't come to this).

This morning I tried Rice Crispies and DH says that he was throwing up all day.  I think/ hope it was the cereal (and the amount, I think I gave him too much) and not the milk giving him problems.  If it is the milk, then he may be lactose intolerant and I need to move on to the Pepcid (which I would rather not do).  So tomorrow I will try some cheerios (a lesser amount) and hopefully that goes better.

As you know, Kayla and I went through a lot of trial and error to figure out her own dietary needs. It can sometimes be a frustraiting processes but hang in there!

Milk? For a dog with digestive upsets? I've never heard of that, LOL. Milk gives Emma projectile poops, and did the same thing to Teenie. It made one of my previous dogs vomit, as well.

It doesn't do great things for my stomach, either. Makes sense, though, seeing as we're not baby cows.

FWIW, Pirate's teeth NEVER looked better than when he was getting NV patties. *Sigh* We ran out about two weeks ago and I can already see crud on his teefers. I'm taking an adventure to my favorite place this weekend though. Just a thought.

My little brain is going crazy while I sit here, eating my junk food, LOL. Would digestive enzymes help, if he's having indigestion?

I hope his little tummy feels better, soon. Poor kiddo. That's no fun, at all. 

I just took my min-schanuzer to the vet last night and he [the vet] informed me that my dog's teeth needed extra attention. If his teeth get any worse he would need to be anesthetized for cleaning, which would cost me 400 bucks...thats just crazy!

So I told my vet that I would clean my dog's teeth more often and if he REALLY needs to see the vet again for this then he will.

My first step(s) are to:

- start brushing his teeth 3-4 times a week [or as necessary]

- buy him some dental bones

-buy him some of those plastic/rubber finger-tip cleaners to wip off his teeth for shine

I thought the milk thing was weird too, but I'll see what happens!

She is fairly certain that it's NOT his teeth.  But she did say to have things available for him to chew daily, which I already do and have done.

No vomiting today, so I'll see where we are in 5 more days...
