Here is an update--and thanks everyone for the encouragement and advice! I've never gone through this with a dog before. Growing up we had an intact beagle, he was neutered when I was in college because he was growing tumors on his rear.
Anyway, Marley seems fine. I
did not try to clean the incision. I just kept putting the spray the vet gave me on it. The incision itself does not look good to me, because the first day it looked nice and clean and straight...now it has been through a lot so it doesn't look as straight and clean. He is still very swollen and red too. So, I don't know.
He is beginning to be a menace again, so that's a good sign. Hopefully, he'll be able to go for a walk soon.
