Jessies_Mom you're absolutely right -- and I said up above I really truly understand WHY they had to elminate diet as any sort of potential "wild card" -- because they didn't know exactly how it had been prepared, what was in it, etc.
But I gotta say -- since I've had him home (and this is the most consecutive days *I* have fed him in three weeks -- gosh, he's been gone A LOT *sigh*) I've ... um ... added to that canned stuff. heart, liver (I still can't believe we paid $7/lb for organic liver sheesh, but my husband says whatever the boy needs! and HE bought it!!) and today I got a new little food processor (long story -- I have an electrically deficient house -- I've never bought a food processor because I can't run one burner on my stove and my coffee pot at the same time or I'll pop a breaker!!) and fixed fresh spinach to add to their dinner. I kept wondering if the iron I'd been giving them in greens had possibly not been broken down enough by cooking or had lost iron IN the cooking -- so I got this wee little chopper to do spinach with and then I cooked it just a bit to finish breaking it down.
They darned near mugged me for it!! LOL. So he's getting not only a 'balanced' diet of the minimums but he's getting an iron-rich one as well.
He's sure lively tonight -- I hope it's a positive sign. (just visualize all the "I hope"s again ok??)
Thanks for the reminder to keep my attitude straight!!!
