Incontinence and how to cope

Question for Cakana - you said that you realized it wasn't spay incontinence...do mean it was a different condition or something else? Just curious.

Well I'm a little embarassed to admit how clueless I was (am), but when my lab, Sassy, started leaving these wet spots I thought immediately it was spay incontinence.  The only thing I couldn't figure out was why it smelled so awful.  My former dog had spay incontinence but there was never an odor to the wet spots.  I even told the vet that, but he didn't think anything of it.  We put her on DES for 6 months and it didn't help at all (had totally worked on my other dog [8|]), so we stopped it.  It was just by reading posts on this site that I finally realized that it was anal gland secretion and it had stopped when we'd changed her diet - thank goodness!!

    Ahh!  [:'(]

Ass juice - labs are good for that!  ha ha.

What is even worse is when our lab 'licks' it.. BLAH![:'(]

If we don't see her do it we can always tell when she has because she has what we call "ass breath".

Well good to hear that you didn't have any issues.
