This may sound silly but have observed that my dogs pass gas when they are barking.  For Danes it is quite loud but I allow it for awhile and stand clear.

Bubby had gas last night,, have no idea why because nothing was different,,,although she had been chewing on a raw bone the day before. Everytime I give her a bone she gets the runs,,,although she did not this time,, just gas.  But as long as it come out I guess thats good,,,staying in would cause problems. She does get whole raw eggs every morning complete with shell.  But I give her probiotics every meal.
Wow DPU,,,185 pounds. THATS a big girl!!!  I believe Bubbys mother was deaf!
You are blessed to have two Danes!!!

Actually there are 3 Danes in the house.  I am going to have to read the threads on nutrition.  I give my Danes a light dry dog food and biscuits in the morning and then a large meal in the evening.  They get a full can of Pedigree chopped beef and Pedigree Weight Mainteance dry dog food. I have been very consistent in their diet for years with not even giving them a bone or anything else.  No stomach issues at all.

DPU, if your happy with the way your Danes are doing,, I wouldn't go into the nutrition threads if I were you. There are a lot of strong opinions on this board and most of them are about dog food.  I personally follow The Great Dane Lady website pretty much,  because she has raised several generations of Danes and other breeds also.  But if you got something good going that is all that counts.   I think that feeding a canned food with the kibble is good because its not just kibble,,,kind of like adding meat to your kibble.
So what about your other Dane?

OK, the last Dane is Petro, around 2 years old and I have had him since he was 10 months.  He is an all Black Dane coming in at 155lbs and he is quite tall.  He was in a puppy recue organization in Kentucky but grew too big and too fast for the organization to handle.  I was so lucky to find him in such an organization because they were so pleasant to deal with.  I was looking for a dog for 8 months and dealt mostly with Great Dane rescue groups, just not a friendly bunch.  Below is a picture of Petro and I am throwing in two fosters that are here and then an entire group shot.  Bubby has such a great look, how about a pic of the full body.  Love the marking on the face but from the looks of the lip, is there drooling?  Petro drools when he eats, the other don't.  I took care of Newfies once and boy do they drool.  BTW, I never met a Dane owner who only had one Dane in the home.  Usually they come in pairs.  A first for me.

Oh you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  lucky!!!   I do wish I had another Dane.  But I live in a tiny house,,,and it would be tough. Plus,,,Bubblegum at one point after I got her at 3 yrs old. went after my sons Dane Ollie. He squealed because someone stepped on his foot and she went right after him. We never put them together again.   She came from the breeder and I do not know what might have happened in her past, but I don't want to take a chance of her hurting anyone, or getting herself in trouble.   We have come a long way with her in the two years that I had her. Today is her birthday and she is five years old!  And yes,,,she is a drooler...unfortunately.  I put my husband on "slobber control" once a week,,,,,meaning he walks around with a sponge and Formula 409!
I love your dogs...all of them.
Here is a couple pictures of Bubblegum,,,,one is the first one I ever saw of her, she was a show dog before they bred her.  The black Dane is Ollie,,,my sons dog.

Happy Birthday Bubblegum.  You are a gorgeous girl and a professional show girl too.  All those black clouds on you, thats why I named mine Drizzle cause it looks like you are going to bring the rain.

Happy Birthday Bubblegum [sm=dance.gif]  You look beautiful; Jessie sends some belly rubs and ear scratches. Hope Mommy gives you something special to eat for your birthday.

Drizzle is a great name!   I didn't name Bubby,,,her breeder did. She said her eyes reminded her of Bubblegum.   She has a daughter named Gelly Bean,,,another professional show girl!  She lives in Alaska!
Bubby says "thank you for the birthday wishes!"  She did get a bowl of  sherbet...which she wolfed down in one swallow and will probably throw it up before the night is done. She also got a bone for her birthday,,,something she had fun with this afternoon!  And a new stuffy!   I took some birthday pictures and will get them on the board one of these days!

NUX VOMICA to the rescue again !  Everyone should keep this on hand, even for yourself if you get food posioning, a hangover.

I will give it my bulldog after her surgery on Wed to help her rid herself of the anathesia (gas).

When Holly had her first heart attack, at the ER she vomited up her meal of kibble and green beans.  I had gone back to fish kibble from raw in effort to clear the yeasty ears.  The vet said it was alot,,,,I said it was only about 1/2 C of kibble but she threw up 3 times a lot.  Right then and there, I went back to raw.  She was transferred to ICU cardiologists and I brought her raw meat to eat.  The vet-techs looked at me and I said feed this to her raw.  They were amazed,,,and even more amazed when she ate it so fast they gave her 2 servings.

I realized they have NUX VOMICA  at the company that I order Bubbys probiotics, so I am going to get some. But I would have been thinking I would want to give Milk Thistle after surgery to rid her of the anesthesia.
