As a pet owner, I can use what ever I want on my own dogs, but as a professional groomer, I am entrusted with caring for others pets. Whether I believe that human products are acceptable or not (personally), for a clients pet, we must (for our own protection and to limit liability) use products that are produced for the pets we service.
At least, if I have to go before a judge, I don't have to say that I used a human product on someones dog, even though it was not approved for use with dogs. What does that do for our profession or our liability? It just opens us up to all kinds of liability and professional scrutinization.
