THANK YOU, all of you for praying, caring, and sending good vibes and thoughts. He came out of surgery as good as can be expected. The emergency vet said he was lucky to be alive. He is shaved from neck to rump. He has a 14 inch bite mark from his right shoulder, across the back of his neck, and descending down his left shoulder. He has multiple bite wounds on his back legs, inside and outside, plus the incision which the e-vet thought was a hernia with a loop of intestine (radiograph), but thankfully it wasn't and all internal organs are fine.
The emergency animal hospital near us closes at 8 a.m. My primary vet said it was fine to bring him in this morning to him. He spent the day there.
At 4 p.m. we got to bring him home. He has 4 tubes in him for wound drainage and we have to leave his IV in just in case it is needed. Pain is the biggest issue for him. It is difficult for him to walk, his back right arthritic leg doesn't hold up well, and he has a difficult time just lying down. But he is quietly sleeping now. More later.
