We had to euthanize our 12 year old girl, Sissy just this morning,  2 months of really great health after her spleenectomy.  She had a low energy lethargy and skipped a walk 5 days ago, a similar episode Sunday, and pretty much all day yesterday it was as though strenght to get up and move would come and go.  Nothing conclusive in a quick x-ray, but our vet strongly suspected it was the cancer at work somewhere (her gums were pale this morning, and she fell down while peeing after walking unsteadily outside).

We will miss her so much.

Thanks for all your kind wishes sinc this began.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about Sissy. Hugs to you. Sissy, run free--no more pain or sickness at the Bridge sweet girl!

My heart dog Prissy -- a little pom/peke mix -- met her as soon as she skidded to a stop at the bottom of The Bridge.  Prissy looked up at her and smiled as ONLY Pris can and said "Well, you aren't MY Sissy, but ANY Sissy is a good Sissy and I know your Man knew my Sissy so WELCOME Sissy!!  I'm Prissy!"

My mother ALWAYS called me Sissy -- when I was 19 my mother informed me SHE was far far too young to be "grandma" to a DOG.  Sooooo I became "Sissy" and funny thing was, it always was far far more a "sister" relationship than mom/dog.  Pris darned near raised me and taught ME all she could about how to do RIGHT by a dog.

So Prissy woulda thot that was a fitting greeting -- trust me.  That dog was about as 'shy' as I am!!  For a little pom/peke mix she was Miss Bossy Boots and Miss Organizer.  But for a dog she had a sense of humor and she would have felt it VERY important to be there for YOUR Sissy just because she deserved it!!

*hugs* to all of you -- I know the hole in your heart that is Sissy-sized is pretty darned big.
