    Tumor...good thoughts needed

Well, I guess the saying "When it rains, it pours" is oh so true!  This couldn't have come at a worse time.  I was checking the ears on my little boy Charlie Monday and found a "lump" inside that concerned me.  It's on the inner part of the flap of all places so off to the vet we went.  I've been trying to avoid the vets due to the cost but this couldn't be put off.  Anyhow, the doctor claims it's a tumor and it should be removed!  :(

I'm not sure when we'll be able to have it removed.  I'll keep ya all informed and updated.

Could use some of the thoughts, prayers and vibes if you got any to spare.

    Thanks

Oh dang -- did he aspirate it??  You really don't need more right now.  Good thots and prayers for sure!

The great thing about good thots and prayers....the more you give away, the more you get!  Thinking of you guys!

You are both in our prayers!

You and Charlie are in our thoughts.  Sending non-tumor vibes your way.

Good thoughts from me too. We had to have a tumor removed from Sassy's ear last year and it was benign. I hope the same will be true for Charlie.

Good question; that wouldn't be very expensive and you would know what you're dealing with. I hope it's a benign growth; sending good vibes.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers.

No, they didn't aspirate it.  They didn't see a need for it at that moment.  They told me it didn't look tooo serious and to keep an eye on it for now.   Usually I'd have them aspirate and send the sample away but I just can't afford it at the moment.   I'll be drove nuts till it's taken care of...as usual.

    Thanks again.

Hmmm, now Dr. Bailey would tell you then and there -- if they look at it under a scope they can tell you if it's fatty -- or has mast cell or whatever in it.  Shouldn't need to go to a lab to be honest.  Takes a few minutes but shouldn't be a big deal -- my vet charges VERY minimally for something like that -- maybe $10 - $15 tops.

I never even thought of them looking under the scope!!!  DUH  If it only came to $10-$15 tops it wouldn't be so bad.  Just to say "HI" to the  doctors costs over $40!  Just for a simple PCV it's $45 (without tax)!!!  They got a new analyzer and the price for CBC's has risen also!  I think like $65 without tax.  They wonder why a person can't afford to go to them.

Maybe I'll try to get him in the next time I take Tessy in.  I'm going to get them to do a dental on him while he's under.  Might as well kill two birds with one stone!  Shouldn't hurt anything to have that done also should it?

    No, it's a good idea.

I do question things -- "Hmmm -- you would have to SEND that out?  Can't the vet just look at that under the scope and see if it's fat or mast cell?  Can we keep this affordable here?"

I just saw this, so I'm a little late, but I just wanted to let you know that we're sending good thoughts to both you & Charlie!

Gracie has a tumor on her side that popped up fast, and although fatty tumors are very common in Dobes, I was dreading the vet diagnosis of what else it could be.  Meanwhile, I'm pretty darned broke these days, so it was a mega relief that the vet aspirated it and confirmed it's just a fatty tumor.  However, because of the location, it needs to get removed once I can afford it.  I understand your trepidation about the situation, and hope all turns out well.

Oh, goodness, it's always something with these dogs!!! I think they need to get jobs!  Hope it's nothing serious for you guys, John.
