Josie prayers?

    Josie prayers?

A lot of you know from facebook, but i thought i should come post it here too. Josie wasn't acting right today, and i was a bit concerned. Around dinner time, she kept eating grass and was shaking pretty bad. I rushed her to the only vet that was still open (Thank God for them letting me come in 10 minutes before they closed). They got an xray and she has an obstruction. It looks like there is cotton in her stomach. Not sure about the intestines. They are loading her with fluids tonight, hoping things will pass. They are going to do another xray in the morning to see if surgery is necessary. If the intestinal junk passes, and not the stomach stuff...they can do an endoscope and go down and grab it.

I have been sobbing all night. We've only been apart for 2 days since i got her, even then she stayed at home with a close friend. I am so sad she has to stay there in a cage all night. I can call around 930 to see what they're gonna do. Any good vibes or prayers, or whatever you got would be very appreciated. I miss my girl.

Oh, how scary! Huge ((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) for you, and lots of  "pass that object" vibes, for Miss Josie.

We hope Josie is OK and no surgery is needed!!!

Oh Megan, I just burst into tears when I read this.

We're sending "poop it out" vibes to Josie!

The blessing is they caught it NOW with an ultrasound.  Several years ago I had a friend with a poodle (and older one) who -- VERY unusually -- munched on a stored cotton hammock.  The vomiting, serious gastric problems -- they looked for DAYS trying to figure out -- pancreatitis, etc. (because he was pooping *some*).  Ultrasounds weren't as common then ... and poor Cedar was a very sick boy for DAYS before they finally found someone who would ultrasound a dog and finally found it.

With this they've found it fast -- so knowing where it is, it will be easier to retrieve it.  The hard part with an obstruction can truly be just locating it.  Three cheers for an owner/guardian who knows when to press the emergency NOW switch and get to a vet fast.

Good thots and prayers for sure!!  Get better fast, Josie!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Luckily she didn't have a fever or anything yet, and was very generous in giving out kisses to all the techs adn the vet.

     Got some good news...

They said it looks like it's moving through! They are giving her a small amount of food every couple hours and watching her. They said they want her to poop- if she poops and everything else is okay, she might be coming home this afternoon!! They told me to call back around noon. It's only 930 right now...

They said she did very well over night, and was very happy and bright.

Wow, I totally missed this.  ((Megan))  I'm so sorry you are going through this.  Sending super pooper vibes your way.  If you can, go & give her belly rubbies.  Would that help things move along?
