    BUTCHERED LOOKING SPAY

I am new to this forum, but I am doing a search for my pet concern and this site came up so I hope someone can help...

I just got my 4 month old puppy spayed today and the surgery site looked like hell! It's all wrinkled and looks like the sides were not put together neatly. I expected to see a nice clean incision line but instead its all red, wrinkled and clumpy looking. Looks like a real bad super glue job! \

Is that normal? will it end up healing normal? I have a pic but can't seem to figure out how to attach it to this.

Sounds normal. They DO use glue to hold the incision together - and it can look a bit rough for the first few days.

I agree, what you are describing can be totally normal. I'd have to see a picture to know for sure. The glue that is used can form crusty clumps if there is any oozing at all from the skin edges. Although I always make it look as lovely as possible on people, to be honest areas of wrinkling as long as they are in the middle of the wound and not the ends smooths out with time. If you use absorbable sutures and tie too tight it makes it look wrinkled as well, but that doesn't mean that it will remain wrinkled in the weeks to come as the sutures absorb :)
