    rw-possible broken toe

    Hi guys....

Ellie might have busted her inside rear left toe. Weight bearing toe. She is non weight bearing right now...I have given aspirin and soaked her in some epsom for now. Waiting to see how she is in the am. It appeared swollen compared to other foot...not majorly misshapen.

Unfortunately no one saw it happen as she was on a run in the big yard with her Mom...who is fine. No punctures, no sign of a fight....she will take food and seems happy enough...just don't touch her toe LOL.

IF she is still non weight bearing tomorrow I will take her in. Not looking forward to an xray as I am unsure she should have one right now...maybe palpitation enough will give us an answer.

Good thoughts and anything to do I've not done already...she is in a crate on crate rest til then as well.

Poor Ellie!  Broken toes aren't fun.

Finger crossed that it's something minor, & quick healing!

thanks...she is putting weight back on it already...when she went out to pee just now. Almost looked normal for a bit then a bit of a limp...then back to normal. I brought her in tho once she pee'd. I am figuring crate rest is still the best idea.

Poor Ellie - maybe she just tweaked it or something.  Hopefully they can just look at it and poke around without having to do anything more.  Maybe she has a small splinter or thorn from a bush or something?  I know I had something in my toe and couldn't tell what it was...low and behold a couple of days later it worked itself to the surface and it was a sharp piece of something.

Gina, I'm sure that you will but I'll say it anyway...you may want to have it checked, just in case.  When Chyna broke hers, she walked on it with only a mild limp.  I let it wait, thinking that it was just a sprain/strain, & the breaks had started to heal crooked.  Instead of a splint to keep everything stable, she ended up having to have surgery to get everything lined up & stabilized.

no symptoms today...normal gait. Swelling is gone..she is sassy and happy...the big eyed trembling is gone. I think we'll do one more soak today and call it a sprain.

Thanks for the thoughts and advice guys!
