Would you believe after the x-ray today - Update last post

I would like to proudly announce my first litter! BIS multi BISS Ch Windwalker Call in the Clowns and Windwalker Spellbinder (pointed) are expecting July 18th.Big Smile I was waiting till we knew for sure that Piper took before I posted, and as of last Saturday, I know we have at least one wee Min Pin on its way. Piper was laying on her back and I felt the puppy kick 3 different times. And, Piper is finally showing! I was beginning to wonder if she was pregnant as we only got one tie, but she's definitely showing now! I'll try to get some pictures up later of her pregnant belly. Stick out tongue Piper's breeder thinks we've got 2 or 3 puppies hiding in there, and I'm impatiently waiting till I can find out! We are aiming for an x-ray or an ultrasound by the 11th.

I'm nervous, but so excited! This has been over 3 years in the planning/making, and the fact that I have my dream girl for my first litter is so hard to believe! And that Emmett took his first BIS in April and I got to use him for the stud! *dancing* I'm hoping the puppies will have their Mama's funny personality with their Daddy's go get 'em attitude - as well as being sound enough to give me my first bred by champion! Happy and healthy is all that is important, but a girl can dream can't she?

I promise lots of pictures as they grow!

I'll try to post pictures, but I tend to have problems, so forgive me if it looks weird.

Piper got 4 points as a puppy, but got spooked in the show ring and spent the next four years perfecting the art of couch lounging. While we waited for her to come in season, we tried to get her over her fear of the show ring. Our first time out, she took WB/BOS for her 5th point in April. I'm pretty proud of my girl!

This picture was taken June 28th as she finally started showing that yes, she is pregnant!

getting close now. I bet you are over the moon with anticipation LOL. My guess is 4...3 males and 1 female. I would guess color but I don't know the genetics of your breed all that well. Wait...I checked the site and there's red in there so...3 reds and one B/T.

The sire, Emmett, has a black/rust sister. Therefore, I know that his parents carry the gene for black/rust. That gives him a 25% chance of carrying only red alleles, and a 50% chance of carrying the black allele. Besides red, stag red, and black/rust - you have chocolate/rust and blue/rust. The blues are a disqualification - MPCA removed blues due to health issues, etc as it is a double dilute to get blue. There is another gene that isn't really known called the clear red that overrides the other color genes. The breeding between two black/rust should only give black/rust - but there have been litters where there have been reds. Shouldn't be possible without the overriding clear red gene.

But, I am hoping for more black/rust than reds. Though I'll take a nice stag red. Hoping for 3 - 2 girls and a boy. :)

no pups. Can you believe it? The little stinker is having a false pregnancy. And with me feeding her like she is pregnant, she has gained 2 pounds. Ugh! When the x-ray showed no puppies, the vet did an ultrasound since she is (was) 7 days from her due date and found no heart beats. I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am. And then to have to call her breeder, the sire's owner, and my best friend - even more depressing. Oh well, I guess we try again in November when she's due to be in season again.

Her breeder and I are still dumbfounded that there are no puppies in there! That belly sure looks preggers! This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh Amy...that is SO disappointing. I am so sorry...darn she is a stinker!!

Oh well, you'll get her next time...and now NO MORE EXTRA FOOD lol. That'll show her right?

    • Gold Top Dog

Little stinker is right. She got less food tonight, but she still didn't finish her dinner like the past 2 nights. Though she did come back and pick at it after she went out to potty. She's so fat she can't finish her dinner - I would have sworn it was because of the puppies! I'm still dumbfounded!

I was so excited to see how many pups showed on the x ray.  What a let down for you, so sorry.  Hoping things are more productive next time around.

    • Gold Top Dog

Well, my jaw dropped when I read about the false pregnancy.  Sorry, I know how disappointing this must be.  Good luck for the next time.
