canine Diabetes Insipidus

• canine Diabetes Insipidus freesiagirl Posted : 5/25/2009 9:40:46 PM Free was diagnosed with possible DI after a very long time of being sick. She has been on desmopressin for 2 weeks and her SG has finally gone up a little bit and urine is more concentrated. Vet wants to try this med for a month and see what happens.  Next is an MRI to see if there is a pituitary tumor. So I am hoping this med will do the trick. Any one have a dog with this condition? Also if she has to get the MRI will the microchip be a problem?? • StephanieB Posted : 7/30/2009 11:08:24 AM How are things going with the DI? We have a boxer named Brutus that at 5 months old was diagnosed with DI. He will be 3 at the end of August. We give him the desmopressin pill(0.2 mg) split twice a day in his water. We have found that consistency count with him. Our vet is very happy with the results to treatment and tell us he is living a healthy happy life.
