Nike's nostril has a pink bump inside, help?

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what could be wrong with Nike's nose.  Tonight, he was looking up at me, and I noticed that his right (my left) nostril was VERY pink and inflamed looking on the inside.  It kind of looks like a growth.  The other nostril is black and normal looking.  I'm worrying, because I was trying to research nasal growths or irritations, and I'm not getting too far.  I'm definitely calling the vet ASAP tomorrow morning, to see if they can get him in.  I have no experience with nasal conditions in any of my previous dogs, do you think it could be a tumor?  It doesn't seem to bother him, although he sneezed four times in a row tonight, which isn't normal for him.  He has no discharge either.

Can an irritant cause such pronounced inflamation?  I feel like I would have noticed it before, it seems to have sprung up quick.  I'd really appreciate any advice someone can give me, I'm worried about my boy.

I'd definitely have it checked.  While it *might* be a tumor, with it just coming up, it's more likely a bite or sting.  I would try not to stress over it too much.

vet's your best bet and in addition to Amanda's good guesses as to cause add foreign bodies like foxtails if you have those or other seed pod type deals. Some times of the year and in some areas those are NOTORIOUS nose gitter inners!

All the best that it's something easily fixed!

Definitely vet -- I honestly doubt, from what you said, that it's a tumor because it came up too fast +sneezing.  However, the vet should be able to remove a foxtail (you usually can't) or stinger if there's one there and give some relief - it won't be a wasted vet visit in *any* event.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.  I'm glad that general consensus is that he probably has an irritant or stinger in there.  I'm so relieved that it's hopefully something small.  I'm a classic worrier, though, and my mind always jumps to the worst case scenario.

I called the vet this morning and set up an appointment, so I'll just have to wait and see what he says.

Thanks for relieving my mind! Smile

Please keep us posted!  With Morrison's huge snout this is probably something I should know more about.

So...Nike's fine. Lol.  You'll never believe what the bump was.  Turns out that Nike's left nostril is black pigmented, and the right one (the one I was concerned about) is not pigmented so it's pink.  Basically, when he was sneezing so much the other day, his nose did get inflamed, and all I saw was a swollen pink nasal cavity.  Stick out tongue

But, like the vet said, it's better that I notice these small things than be oblivious!  The vet gave Nike a full physical in order to make the office fee worth it, which was nice.  We talked about Nike's heart murmur, and he cleared him for obedience class and agility in the future.

Thanks again for letting me post in my frantic worry.  I'm glad I have an understanding forum to share with!
