Heaven! I'm in heaven!!! What a difference quality products make!!!

I gave both dogs baths yesterday and I think I may have finally found the magic combo of products to deal with Indie's impossible coat.  I used Earthbath's Tea Tree Oil and Aloe shampoo which I'm now totally in love with.  It didn't bother his nearly gone hot spot/infection, rinsed beautifully, got them so incredibly clean, smelled divine and didn't leave them itchy like other shampoos have in the past.  It was able to penetrate Indie's unbelievably dense undercoat and really get alot of it out just by rinsing with water and running my fingers through it.  I didn't want to irritate his skin by using the ZoomGroom or undercoat rake.  Then I rinsed him with Efa HyLyt Bath Oil Spray mixed with water.  It also smelled wonderful and helped lift out even more undercoat just with water and my fingers.  It was especially helpful on his "bloomers".  The fur on his back legs, butt and tail is just plain terrible.  It's coarse, kinky, matts easily, traps every burr, twig and leaf in a 3 mile radius and is almost always impossible to get combs and rakes through unless he's saturated with a gallon of conditioner.  While in the tub I was able to just use my fingers and get loads and loads of fur out of that area, work the oil rinse all the way to the skin, and it actually started to feel softer.  Once I got him out and towel dried him, I sprayed it full strength on that area and was able to use a gentle plastic comb to finish up that area without the yanking and pulling l usually have to do to get his bloomers brushed out and matt free.  I'm a believer!  I'll be using it regularly to condition that fur and keep it matt and tangle free!  Yay!

Just had to share, this stuff is FANTASTIC!!!

I too use Earthbath products. They have them readily avail at Pet Extream - Where I take Max to give him his baths.

The shampoos work wonders and they smell good too =)

I use their tearless, and the tea tree and aloe. They're especially good on irritated skin. That's the only thing I'll put on Emma when she's got skin yuck.

hmm... I'll have to look into that!

Can you get it 'in store'? Or can you only order online....?

I got the Earthbath at Petco and the HyLyt spray at PetSmart, but you can find them online less expensively.  The dogs still smell divine, even days later, with other products, they tend to pick up smells again pretty quickly.  Poor Woobie, I won't let him swim in the lake because I want the nice smell to last!  LOL  Maybe this weekend I'll give in.

I was just getting ready to ask a question about shampoo for my boys.  Rocky loves water and baths, Hot Shot hates them but loves to be brushed.  Rocky is always scratching but there are no fleas/tics and his skin doesnt seem to be flakey.  He has a very thick undercoat so its hard to see skin.  I was hoping to find something I could use on both boys, Hot Shot has only had 2 baths since we got him in May, it is such a chore and other than smelling like a dog on occasion he usually just gets burrs and grass in his hair I usually get those out by hand. Is there a product that would not require  water bathing???  I am going to have to check out this shampoo and conditioner.

the tea tree shampoo might help Rocky. If you don't neet to bathe Hot Shot, I wouldn't, IMO.

Casey gets baths for his skin, every few weeks (I've been slacking... he's due....) to maintain his good skin condition.

I use the Earthbath Tea Tree/Aloe and a medicated bath mixture.

If HotShot's coat and skin are in good shape, I would just brush, maybe with a nice, natural bristle brush that will distribute the natural oils through his skin and coat.  I think some dogs can do well with minimal baths as long as their skin and coat are in good condition and they don't smell particularly "doggy".  It's probably better for their skin, especially as we head into the dry winter season.  Over the winter, I tend to avoid bathing and will usually just put them in the tub and wash their legs and feet that get muddy and dirty and just brush out their coats real well.

Well Hot Shot will appreciate the no bathing input from all of you, lol.   He loves to be brushed he would stand still for hours to get brushed if my hands wouldnt give out.  This is the first time I have ever had a long haired dog.  I usually didnt give Shadow too many baths but he also loved water so he would get a shower w/no soap from time to time.  I always used baby shampoo on him with no trouble.  Someone told me not to use that on my dogs after Shadow passed.    My smeller isnt as good as hubby's so I am not usually bothered by the "Dog" smell.  He is always saying they smell like dogs...... well duh, Ha!  I just thought there might be something I could brush in that would make them smell better.
