Cat Safe Alternative to Frontline for Dogs?

So I'm still battling Indie's "hot spot" but not.  The vet isn't quite sure what it is now, it's contained to one spot, on his inner thigh.  When he was put on a topical antibiotic/steroid ointment, he started breaking out in pustules in the area.  So he's off the ointment and on oral antibiotics and it appears to be drying out and getting better.  The only thing I can point to that started this was Frontline.  He's been on it for 6+ months but this month, he really appeared to be bothered by it (new box, hmmm) and was very scratchy and itchy.  The spot where it was applied did not appear red or irritated at all, he just started biting and scratching at himself alot.  He seemed to find that one spot on his inner thigh, got it good and irritated and then the "whatever" started.  So the vet has recommended switching.  I don't want to use Revolution, he already on a Interceptor for heartworms and I'd prefer to go the less chemical the better route.  I almost picked up Advantix at PetSmart until I saw the No Cats warning on it and remembered the problems with cats.  I've only used Frontline or Revolution, is there something else for fleas/ticks but safe for cats and not laden with lots of other unnecessary stuff?

    not really, no.

I use advantage here for all my animals, but I don't have a large tick problem.

You may want to look into confortis then...... not sure how I feel about it, but it seems to be working for those that are using it.

Blech, that's what I was afraid of.  I'm still not sure what I'll do.  I've never found a flea or a tick on any of my dogs (well, one or two, many years ago w/my airedale) but have on myself so I know they're about.  I'm very regular with their treatment, so I guess that means it's working.  I may try Revolution for a month or two and then they'll pretty much be done for the winter when I don't treat and try the Frontline again in the spring and cross my fingers that he won't react again, if that was it at all.  At least he's been on Revolution in the past without incident, I'd rather stick with something known.  What a pain!  Super Angry
