    INDOOR Activities

What are your favorite indoor LOCATIONS & ACTIVITIES with your dog(s)???

Right now it's sleeting (rain/snow) outside very badly and the weather man said it should continue all the way through Sunday. Boo! It's never ending cold and the Floridian in me can't take it any more!

I'm not the only one affected by the weather though... lil miss "Keelah Monstah" is going nuts!

We'll do laps up and down the hallway or around the elevator/lobby area (ya the neighbors have got to love that... lol). I also practice clicker (which she loves) in the apartment, in the hallway, in the lobby. We play "keep away" with her toys and make her bounce around back and forth after us... And thanks to the forum suggestion, I now set up pillows around the apartment and make her jump over them.

I'm running out of ideas though! What I'd really like is an INDOOR (toy breed /small puppy) agility kit. I've been searching online and all I can find are outdoor set ups or too big of jumps, tires, tunnels, etc. Any suggestions/links????

I did a local search and I could not find a single indoor agility club/facility. I can't find any indoor dog play places other than Doggie Daycamps (but that's no fun! I can't be there!) She gets to come to training sessions with me too but it's just not enough.

My dog is just SPAZZING out lately b/c she's just got so much energy but doesn't want to go out in the rain. My boss bought her a really nice offical AKC Rain Jacket for saying "thanks" during training sessions. She likes the jacket and it deff helps us in the rain... but let's face it, I don't want to be out in the sleet either!

Looks like our family is becoming a bunch of hybernating bears!

    Help! Tongue Tied

    Edit/Add:

Might I add... BF had a tredmill and I was like "this is so dumb, it takes up space and we have a GYM... get rid of it" so I made him donate to a charity... I'm so stupid!! Totally could be using it for Kayla right now... hahaha grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We have a long, skinny room, so even with a German Shepherd I can practice heeling, pivots, turns, etc. and clean up a lot of those positions with just a few steps to worth with, especially pivots since no forward direction is involved.  We also do stuff like the "touch" game where I drop a bunch of random objects on the floor and call out or point out which ones I want her to run to and touch w/ her paw.  Lately we also do "go around" and I've been using a bar stool.  I set it in various places in the room, position ourselves as far away as possible, and then command her to run out and around the stool.

I've toyed with bringing one jump inside, but her jump technique is fine (I have her jump outdoors once or twice when I take her out to potty) and she's not losing any training, so I'd rather not have her jumping on a hard surface (crappy old carpet and hard sub-floor).  I'd like to build a base for my weaves so I can bring them indoors.

Those are awesome ideas! Because not only is she getting exercise but it will help to clean up a lot of obedience as well. Thanks!

Targeting & Touch Games are a huge thing I want to work on (thanks for the reminder!!). She's very good at "look" and "focus" on my hand... but not good at "distance" with objects (sometimes I think she's blind... hehe). I might buy a Target Stick to help. ow yay, thanks so much for some ideas!
