    Bladder or Urinary Infection???

What are the signs of these conditions? Teddi very lately is peeing more than normal. Now normally she is a huge pee'r. She is not having any accidents, but she does seem to need to go out more now than she does normally. She is drinking well but she is a big drinker too. Sometimes my DH says she is squatting but nothing is happening, not sure how he knows (didn't ask). She seems fine spirits wise. This has gone on since probably Friday. I am not sure if we should call our vet or what. We go for her surgical follow up tomorrow but he won't want to be bothered with this so I think I should call our regular vet today if it could be a problem?

It depends -- some dogs drink MORE when they have a UTI (because somehow they make the connection that if they drink a lot it burns less) and then some dogs drink less (because of the obvious connection that it burns to pee).

Straining to go is another obvious sign of a UTI.

You can catch a sample yourself (push a little 100% clean plastic bowl under her as long as her body hair doesn't touch it)  and take it to the vet or stop and have them do it.  If you collect the sample get it on ice IMMEDIATELY and get it right to the vet (waiting allows bacteria to grow and it voids the culture for use).

Honestly I would get her in ASAP.  Not only is a uti incredibly painful, they can be VERY dangerous -- particularly if she strains and/or if there is blood present.
