Clean cut on leg

    Clean cut on leg

I had Trooper and Rosie out to walk on our local wooded trail, and as usual, Trooper ran endlessly through the woods like a madman. While wiping his muddy paws afterward, I noticed a slice on his hind leg. It's nearly an inch long. I thought at first that it may have been just a scrape, but it is definitely a cut (not deep though, there's no blood). He doesn't seem to notice it and didn't mind me washing it.
Should I do anything else with it, or leave it to heal?

Keep an eye on it, keep it clean, and it should heal fine.  You might try some polysporin or something if it starts to look redish.. but typically my dogs minor cuts heal up just fine on their own.  If it was on a pad it might be a bit different as those ones are harder to heal in a working dog.

I agree. It'll probably heal on its own. You could put some neosporin on it just to help it along.

Clean it once a day with mild soap and water. Polysporin is probably a good idea as well. Can you see any fat (yellow globs?)? If you can it should be sutured and not just left to heal by secondary intent.
