Running zoomies doesn't worry me, but this part does.  Depending on her size and breed 12-yrs-old could be quite old.

Vestibular disease/syndrome can make dogs go in circles.  Cholodin can help with that and with senility.

How long has this been going on?  Some forms of vestibular disease will clear up in a couple of weeks.

What testing did your vet do?  Did he/she provide any meds?

i'll try to get a 2nd opinion coz my vet didn't give any meds. she just said that my pet is old.

With no tests at all?  I would definitely get a 2nd opinion.

Tell the vet that she

1. suddenly started running in circles to exhaustion (vestibular syndrome?, neurological problem?)
2. doesn't seem to recognize you (cognitive dysfunction syndrome?)

It seems strange to suddenly get both syndromes at the same time.

I would want the evaluation to include

1. thyroid testing - I would ask for a full panel done by Hemopet or MSU (Michigan State University).
2. a comprehensive evaluation for a inner/middle ear infection or disorder (ear culture?, X-rays?)
3. a senior panel of blood tests

I would also get the dietary supplement Cholodin now from http://www.entirelypets.com.  You don't need a prescription for that.

Please go to the top of a forum page, click on "Edit Profile", and put in your location (city or area - e.g Dallas, TX or DFW, TX).  Someone may have a vet recommendation.  In fact, you might want to also post on the General Chat board and ask for a vet recommendation.

All Janet said is great -- but I'd also add that this could be a form of seizure activity.  Given that this might be outside the realm of 'typical' vet stuff, I'd suggest a holistic vet.  http://www.tcvm.com is a good referral point.  On the left they have a locator.

*Running* in circles -- literally to the point of exhaustion ... that sounds obsessive and seizure-y.  Usually old dog vestibular they aren't running -- but just unable to walk in a straight line. 

DEFINITELY something to worry about.  Sorry I wasn't around last night to help earlier.

I also HATE it when a doctor (human or animal) says "Oh, he/she is old."  My grandmother's doctor said that one time, and when I heard about it I wanted to SMACK him.  Antiques are old, too--it just means you treat them with greater care, not less!
