When is it time?

Usually they'll drop by now.....sometimes not until later on.  I have one pup who now and then has them down, but usually nowhere to be found.  We're trying to wait a bit to see if they will drop so the surgery is less invasive (he's 9 months old now) but it's not looking real good for Theo to have a simple snip and suck.

None of my boys have needed the e collar, but I'm here to provide a pretty constant level of supervision and after the first nite, whoever got snipped is right close to me at all times...who am I kidding, they are ALWAYS close to the mommy.....so I can insure that any licking is immediately corrected.

Reach between his back legs and locate the scrotum...the sack....you should be able to feel the testicles in it and they will feel like small hard balls, hence the reason men like to call them balls....you SHOULD be able to feel them yourself.

as glenmar says you might be able to feel the undescended one at this point but it does take a little practice..If it can be felt in the canal then , with surgery it can be pushed back into the scrotum and removed at the same time as the  "normal one"   if it cannot be felt at all then i think the surgery could wait for a few more months until it is determined that it will not come through the inguinal canal...which would require an abdominal approach...There is no rush  to have the surgery done cause males don;t come into heat periodically like females...i guess you could say they are in heat 24/7 depending on the nearness of females dogs...But again there is no rush
