I took Lucky to the vet this morning to get him neutered. I'm so worried! I saw a post awhile back on how to make the neck brace thing with a towel and bandage but I can't seem to find it now. Does anyone have the specific instructions on how to do it? And will it prevent him from licking his wounds? Is there anything else I can do to prevent him from licking his wound?

What should I expect when I pick him up later? Will he be in pain, if so for how long? And how long does it take for him to heal?

Sorry for the abundance of questions... just very concerned.

you can make a collar like this with a towell lof cotton bandage and wrap it with duct tape or adhesive tape... or an ace bandage snug enough that he can't turn around and get at the incision....more comfortabel than an e-coll;ar

re: pain etc...usually it does not bother the dog and the best pain med is a good scratching behind the ear as needed....but the vet will give you instruction etc or pain med if he thinks it necessary

Thanks dvet! it worked like a charm! and he doesnt even mind wearing it.

so it's day 2 after and he's acting like himself and eating like his piggyself.
