spayed puppy

• spayed puppy Melodie Searles Posted : 10/7/2006 12:10:32 PM We got our 5 month old puppy from animal control.  After thet spayed her they said the inscision was a little long because they had a hard time finding one ovary.  Her vulva has been very big ever since we brought her home & her nipples are a little protruded.  We took her to the vet because of excessive licking of the vulva.  She is now 10 months old.  The vet says she is in heat.  She has looked this same way for the whole 5 months we have had her.  How can this be?  Do alot of dogs have a swollen vulva all the time, or is he right and maybe the animal control missed something? • dvet Posted : 10/7/2006 2:22:22 PM its pretty difficult to miss an ovary...there are, obviously only two and if you don;t get two then one was missed...but there is a possibilty that one ovary was divided emryologicalyy (poor word) and could be a slip of one in there...you might suggest to the vet that you heard that giving male hormones would correct the situation temporaily as a test to see if  a portion is still in there and functioning... 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
