spay -- healing or getting infected?

Hi everyone, Dweezil is my first puppy, so I'm not sure what the spay wound is supposed to look like.  She was spayed on monday, so today is the 3rd full day afterwards.  I put the e-collar on her at night, and until now I hadn't noticed anything funny about the stitches.  I'm noticing just now (as opposed to earlier today) that there is a little more pink than before.  The incision line (or the line of skin that they folded to stitch) is scabbing over and healing, from what I can tell.  I mean, i know the healing process is not going to be pretty looking, but I'm not sure if the pink is normal?  Can anyone describe what is OK?

What you do *not* want to see is swelling, real hot looking redness or pus.  A little pink is normal.  Also, I hope she has an elizabethan collar on if she is out of your sight. The other awful complication of spay surgery is that some dogs will actually chew holes in themselves to try to alleviate the pain or itching from an incision.  If you have any doubt as to what's normal or not, don't hesitate to call your vet clinic - they'd rather calm your fears than see you too late with an infected incision.

Thanks for the advice--I got her an e-collar a couple days after the surgery because i caught her doing some late night licking, but i only used it the night after that, and stopped ... and it's been over a week now, and no infection!  I lucked out, I know.  They were going to let me get her stitches out exactly a week after the surgery ... so i postponed it to almost 2.  We'll see how it goes.
