    Dog ate a bee!

    Hi,

My dog ate a bee, it was dead and he immediately threw up.  Should I still rush him to the emergency vet?

Is his mouth swelling up? My friend had the same thing happen to her dog and she gave the dog benadryl and had to take it to the emergency vet for a shot of benadryl. I'd call them to check.

Thank you for responding.  Thank God he seems to be okay, his mouth is not swelling up and just a few minutes ago he seemed hungry, so I gave him 3 oz of meat.  I had some allergy medicine (not Prednisone) vet had given so I gave him one of those pills.  I called them and they said because the bee was already dead there was no risk it could have stung him, but to keep an eye on him for the next 24 hrs and if I saw him vomiting or  with diarrhea or lethargic to take him in.  So far he has only thrown up once, immediately after ingesting, and is very playful and alert.  Still I am going to watch like a hawk and take tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you again, for showing concern.
