Help! I think Chloe broke her tail!

I'm pretty sure my 1 1/2 year old Lab broke her tail.  I am out of town with her and it's a holidy weekend.  Any ideas or advice?

The tail is part of the spine = I would think it would have to be determined by how much pain she was in.  If it impairs her walking AT ALL or if it appears to cause pain, I'd get her to an e-vet.  Otherwise hopefully it will wait til Monday.  I'd look carefully for any neural problems.  A blood clot at the injury site could be dangerous.

I agree with Callie.  If you absolutely can't get her to a vet before Monday, pick up some paint stir sticks, cut them to size and use those to splint her tail with some guaze to keep her from damaging it further.

And you could give her buffered asprine like St.Johns childrens asprin for pain or if you have an anti inflamitory, like Rimadyl for pain also.

My  guess would be that she has Limber Tail.  It is very very common in the retrieving breeds.  Check out info :[linkhttp://www.woodhavenlabs.com/coldtail.html]http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/coldtail.html[/link]

First time our first golden had that I accused our son of shutting Scooter's tail in the truck  door or stepping onit in the duck blind.  His tail hung straight down.  Ron was so upset and said no, he nad hot stepped on it nor shut it in the door.  I ws later told it was called "dead tail" and was common.  Soon, he had has tail back up and wagging.  I hope that is all that is wrong with dog.
