    should I be worried?

Hello!  I am a new puppy owner of a 6 month old pomeranian named Luke.  I've had him for only a few days.  Today I was holding him and getting something out of the fridge and he suddenly jumped from my arms.  He probably fell about 5 feet.  As soon as he landed, he let out a terrible noise like nothing I've ever heard before - obviously in severe pain.  after a few seconds he went quiet again and just wanted to be comforted.
I was really worried that he had broken a bone or sprained his leg, but he seems to be walking fine now . . . he's just very tired.  Was it just a learning experience for him - realizing that his legs can't handle a fall like that?  He landed on his front legs - and we checked them and he doesn't seem to be in pain when we apply pressure.  I guess I'm just concerned because he's so new to me and I love him so much.  I already have his first vet check-up scheduled for Friday.  In the mean-time, are there signs or symptoms of a serious injury I may not be aware of?  Everyone's help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert by any means, but over Christmas I was hiking with my papillon and he decided to dart downhill of me as I was trying to negotiate a steep decline. I ended up stepping on him, and he let out a series of heart-wrenching yelps that made me absolutely convinced I had broken his leg. Well, he held his paw in the air for a minute or two and gave me a long series of "How could you?!" looks, and then continued down the hill, completely fine. Not even a bruise. Hopefully the same is true with your little fellow!

I'm sure your vet wouldn't mind if you called up and asked for advice. They can probably give you a good list of things to watch for, or might have an opening earlier than Friday if you're concerned.

Your pup is adorable, by the way! [:)] Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, many puppies do not seem to learn that way. I'd probably call the vet and push up his appointment.

Thanks for the advice you guys. I'm pretty sure he's ok - he just had a bad scare. tonight he was running, jumping and walking just fine. I will definitely keep an eye on it and call the vet if I feel like I need to before Friday.

Thanks for praising my pup, Cita! I never knew I could love a puppy as much as I love Luke [:)]
