    My playful pup cant play

My dog tess (border collie) has had arthritus in her hips for the past couple of years so my dad has had to cut down on her excersise (chasing sticks ball etc) but she is very playful and since she cannot do as much excersise as she used to she has become come more aggressive towards other dogs, any ideas how I can excersise her properly without hurting her sore hips?

    Welcome to my world :)

My Giz, BC mix, has arthritus in her hips mostly due the her sevear hip displaysia. Before she was even a year old we could see arthritus starting to form by looking at her x-rays.  For now I use a holistic approce to handel the pain, I give her yucca supliments.  They work by lubercating the joints so that the pain is not so intense.  As she gets older I may swich to glucosimine and maybe even a pain control such as rymidal. Depending on what the vet suggest.

Now on top of that she formed a dog fear agression,  I currently have her in obedience training and learning ways to calm her agression, a great book "Click to Clam" really helped me understand how to deal with an agressive dog.  Basicly it take a lot of time a understanding to get through it.

On to exercise...  One great form of exercise would be to allow her to swim.  It would take the pressure off of her joints and allow her to move around freely.  BCs are almost non-stop dogs till their very last days, always want to play and have fun.  So keeping her from playing is torture for a BC.  You just have to slow things down a bit.  Also get her on some good food.  If she is over 7 years old then I would suggest a senior food, something with join suplement.

Thanks for the great advice Xebby! I would love for tess to swim but she is scared of water, but I will try the food you suggested and my nana says i should put a drop of cod liver oil in her food
