Lethargy

    Lethargy

Little Misty is very lethargic this week.  :(  She's eating and drinking and pooping fine, but just isn't her usual self.

Am trying to figure out why,  here's the two things that I've come up with:

I gave her her heartworm treatment on Sunday, could that make her feel lousy?  She's on Heartguard Plus chewables.

We recently sent off her foster brother to his new home, he had been here nearly 6 months, is she feeling sad and lonely?

We never treat the lawn with anything, but the bugs and the weeds have gotten so out of hand that my husband decided he had to do one treatment this summer and he treated with a turf builder and also with a Grubex Plus.  We watered the daylights out of the lawn before allowing her back in the yard, but I'm worried that wasn't enough.

Poor thing, I hate to see her so sluggish.

A good possiblity that she is depressed without her buddy. Sometimes they form a bond as you well know and when separated they will act depressed.

Give her extra loving to reassure her things are ok and she is safe. Poor little girl. Give her an extra belly rub and kiss for me too, please.

When Hunter was in ICU (and then died), his littermate sister was so depressed.  She mostly stayed under the table instead of on the sofa like me .  She hardly ate. They had been together their entire lives--4 years.I was really worried about it.

It very well could be she is depressed about losing her friend.  Right now my dogs are not eating as much and are more content to just lay around on the tile floor  keeping cool, so maybe that is part of it also, the heat and weather.  Whatever I hope she gets to feeling her old self soon.

As stated above, it sure could be her missing her brother.

BUT, it also could be the other things mentioned. Since you watered your grass really well, hopefully it is not that.

As far at the HW pill, our Ollie got sick for amost 2 weeks after getting Heartguard.  It took us about 3 months to realize it was that which was making him sick. So you can pay attention to this next month when you give it again.

Thank you all for the ideas.  She seems a little perkier today, but it's hard to tell because it's so rainy and humid, no one wants to move too awful much.

I will keep an eye out next month for how she is on the days following her HW treatment.  I hope there's not a trend there.

She is probably missing her foster brother, although the entire time he was here she expressed her hatred for him on a daily basis and made his life even more difficult than it already was.  A real, true brother/sister bond, I suppose.

Misty's back to her old zoomy self.  I talked to the vet, he wants me to change from Heartguard Plus to plain Heartguard.  He thinks she may be reacting to the "Plus" ingredient (I can't  remember the name of it!!).
