heartworm prevention for small dog

The one Max takes (I'm having a senior moment here - I can't remember if it's Interceptor or HeartGuard) is a pretty good sized chewable, so it wouldn't be too hard to just slice a small bit off for a much smaller dog.  Your vet would probably have to guide you on that one.

Since we are all concerned with doing what's best for our pets in the healthiest way possible... you may want to consider holistic heartworm preventative treatment. I belong to another group that deals with raw feeding, vaccinations and all medications used on pets and there is great concern over using chemical flea and heartworm treatments. Many of the people who are raw feeders do not use these items AT ALL and have never had problems with fleas or heartworms. I for one believe a holistic approach to all health matters is wiser than resorting to chemicals.

I'm sure there are others out there if you look for holistic and homeopathic pet supplies.

Neither of those links are working for me.

I go out of my way to get Interceptor. My vet does not carry it so I have to get it thru mail order.
The Dane down the street had skin problems with Revolution.

My mother just got a pug that weights about 3 lbs and the vet said the small dose of Interceptor was just fine.
