Blood in Diarrhea

Hi Everyone
I have a 4 year old Jack Russell. He was in the kennel while my husband and I were on our honeymoon for ten days. I picked him up on Monday and he has seemed a little disoriented since then. While he was in the kennel they updated all his shots. When I picked him up he was noticeably lighter – like he had lost a little bit of weight. I do know that he has a hard time eating when we are away so I just figured that is what caused the weight loss. Monday when I brought him home, I fed him and he gorged him self. Late last night and all this morning he has had bad diarrhea with blood in it. He has thrown up twice. Would the shots be causing this or the fact that he hadn#%92t eaten very much while we were gone then to inhale his dog food? What are your suggestions?

It could be from the shots, but it also could be some bug (Giardia - maybe) that he picked up while in the kennel. I'd definitely make a call to the vet today and get him checked out. If he already lost weight and now has loose stools, he could become very sick, very quickly. Better to be safe than sorry.

Welcome to idog krs023; cakana's right; better get him to the vet ASAP; bloody diarrhea is something that needs to checked out. Years ago we lost a dog with bloody diarrhea; I was 14 and my father couldn't take the dog to the vet untill Saturday; he died on the way. Good luck and keep us posted.
