    Cat dandruff?

I rescued an 8yr old DSH last month. She has had 2 applicatins of 'revolution' and is fully up to date with shots and is in good health. However, since we got her she has had dandruff type stuff in her coat. She is not that itchy and I do brush her daily. She is fed home cooked/ raw and sometimes cat kibble. Any ideas on what i can do? My vet said try washing her (no thancks) or put some skin oil stuff in her food but for $29 dollars a bottle im not sure if i want to but it then find out it doesnt work. Does anyone have any ideas?

You'd probably get more answers in Kitty Central or whatever the Cat Forum section is called.  But why not just some fish oil?  That's relatively inexpensive and you can get it in caplets or the stuff you can just squirt on.

WHY two doses of revolution within a month?  That stuff is systematic and pretty rough.  Could be the reason for the dry skin.....

You could try fish oil or flaxseed oil along with vitamin E.

the above suggestions are good burt again genetics  controls a lot...Also the humidity in the area where the cat lives will  add a factor...the more humid that surrounding air the less chance to form dander...oils and fats will help cats more than dogs

Thanks guys i will try the fish oil. We have some here. Is the human fish oil capsules ok? Sorry i didn't mean 2 revolutions in a month. I meant one revolution a month ago when we rescued  her, given by the vet and one revolution last week because it had been a month sice she had a dose.

I just adopted a cat who had the same issue for the first few weeks I had him.  Our other cat had yuccy coat when we adopted her too.  I think it is because the shelter isn't able to brush them as much as they need to be and also they are in confined areas with their cat litter.  After 2 weeks of alot of brushing and good food both cat's have beautiful shiney coats.
