dog food is making him vomit and dirahea

about a week and a half ago i started feeding my dog a mix of science diet nature dog food and can food.  but he's vomited up this yellowish liquid about 2-3 the past week which may be a sign that i'm not giving him enough food.  but he's also been having really bad diarehea and has even pooed in the house which is odd b/c he barely does that.  should i feed him more of the dog food or think of an alternative?  i'm also worried about his lump.  i don't think it has grown a signifigant amount.  i found one that is soft and one that is very hard above is right leg...both are small as of now.

The yellow bile is from an upset tummy. Science diet may be his problem with the runs. You might want to switch him to something else that he can tollerate better. I have pasted some links for you to reveiw and make your own decision.

As for the lump, I would have a vet check it out. Some are cancerous tumors and some are what they call fatty mastcell tumors which are harmless unless it interferes with a major joint area and affects their mobility.

You are welcome. And I forgot to mention you can feed him just plain canned pumpkin to help firm up his stools. Not the kind you use to bake for a pie, just plain pumpkin.
Sometimes dogs develop an intollerance to the foods they are on and this will happen. And other times it is the food itself has been reformulated or changed that can cause this too.

Welcome to the forum too. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your furkid. BTW, that is the fee here.[:D]

I would have the lumps checked.  Chances are they are just fatty tumors and nothing to worry about, but it is better to have them checked.  And I agree about giving the pumpkin and seeing if that works, and also it does sound like the SD is not agreeing with him.  My 11 old golden retriever is on the science diet for his kidneys right at the moment--he has a kidney infection.  But he will be back on his regular food once it is cleared and his kidneys are normal again.

I also use the Sceince Diet for weight loss on my lamost 7 year old golden.  She was on it for a few months and lost the needed 15 pound.  I didn't hve any trouble at all with her being on it.  However, once the weight was off (she put on weight bcaue of bad knees and knee surgeries a year apart) she is on her low cal food now.

Welcome to idog;  Did you change your dog over to the Nature gradually, taking at least a week to switch? Even though it's made by the same company the formula may be different enough to require a gradual switch. You may want to go back to what he was eating before and after giving him a few days for his stomach to settle mix a small amount of the Nature in his food, adding a little more Nature each day and using a little less of his old food; taking about four days to be using half of each and about a week total to be completely on the Nature. If during this time he has diarrhea or vomits, back up and go more slowly with the change over.
Jessie has four fatty tumors and two are soft and two are hard. It doesn't cost much to have them aspirated to see if they're cancerous or not; it's done in the examination room and does not require anesthesia; the vet simply sticks a needle in the lump and draws out some fluid. It  gives you peace of mind.

thank you to everyone for there help.  I greatly appreciate it and so does Happy.  As for the food, it was the can food that was actually causing the upset stomach.....i just gave him dry dog food and took one of his dog treats and cut it into small pieces and put it in the dry dog food...and he seems so much better today and energetic again.  I'm hoping this is a good idea.

As for the lump,  i have to go back in three weeks or until the lump gets a little bigger so i'm hoping they are just the fatty ones i've heard other dogs have.  Thank you again for all your help guys!

my puppy (approx. 5 months) had diareaha yesterday and didnt act like she felt that well.  Today she is vomiting and won't eat.  We recently switched her food, but have switched back to her regular food.  I'm wondering what is wrong and if i need to take her to the vet?

    AprilJean,

Get your pup to the vet right away. I don't think you should fool around when puppies get diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, and lethargy. It can be very serious.

Welcome to the forum; Kennel_keeper's right; diarrhea and vomiting can be serious in puppies. When I was a kid I had a Beagle puppy that was having diarrhea and because of circumstances ( father's work schedule, mother didn't drive) we had to wait until Saturday to take him to the vet. He died in my arms on the way there. [:(;Please take your puppy to the vet.
