    Gastitris

Help, I have a 13 month old jack/doxi. He has been getting gastitris very often. he has been to the vet several times she gave him some meds to help with it and he was doing better. now i am wondering how I can provent it from comming back. He old eats his dog food dry and a few treats durring the day. Nothing over load. I feed him Eagle Pack, I am wondering if I should change his food alothough I love the results the food has given his coat and stool size.

I feel so bad when this happens. Some times he gets it so bad he had blood in his stool. i took it to the vet she told me it was from the Gastitris. Please help.

I guess I would want to know which formula of Eagle you feed,,,and then thinking maybe he is allergic to something in it..such as if you feed chicken and rice,,maybe he is allergic to ANY food with chicken.

My dog takes Pepcid every night before dinner.  We had quite a disaster before we found what he needed.  I am not sure what causes his problem, or how exactly the acid reducer helps, but we went from major ulcers and vomiting blood to a healthy dog.  We do have to keep giving him the pill though, or I can tell he isn't feeling well.  Also, we feed him a prescription diet. (Science diet ID).
