Gastitris

• Gastitris Dockter Posted : 6/7/2006 7:12:01 AM Help, I have a 13 month old jack/doxi. He has been getting gastitris very often. he has been to the vet several times she gave him some meds to help with it and he was doing better. now i am wondering how I can provent it from comming back. He old eats his dog food dry and a few treats durring the day. Nothing over load. I feed him Eagle Pack, I am wondering if I should change his food alothough I love the results the food has given his coat and stool size.   I feel so bad when this happens. Some times he gets it so bad he had blood in his stool. i took it to the vet she told me it was from the Gastitris. Please help. • Christi Posted : 6/7/2006 9:23:13 PM My dog takes Pepcid every night before dinner.  We had quite a disaster before we found what he needed.  I am not sure what causes his problem, or how exactly the acid reducer helps, but we went from major ulcers and vomiting blood to a healthy dog.  We do have to keep giving him the pill though, or I can tell he isn't feeling well.  Also, we feed him a prescription diet.
