Not itchy, but still scabby skin/fur?

Not itchy, but still scabby skin/fur?

My dog Tasha, has what looks like scabs on her back.... I'm not sure how to explain it really but if you feel for them, they feel like ticks/bumps/scabs and look like scabs.  She's not overly itchy in those areas or anything so it doesn't seem to bother her.  But it doesn't look that great.  You can pull them off without any reaction from her (only did this once to see what it was) and you get a scabby type of thing with a clump of her fur in it.  She has a lot of this.  I'm going to make her a vet apt but thought I'd see if anyone else has seen this.

This *sounds* to me like a flea bite reaction.  Is that possible?  I had a cocker once who would get alllll kinds of scabby from fleas, back in the days when we were still fighting fleas tooth and nail every year.

Jillian will get these scabs after contact with an allergen - quite often a shampoo or something there of that she's allergic to.

Hmm... I guess it's possible it's fleas, but she is on Fronline for fleas and ticks.  I know they can still bite.... hmm...  I haven't *seen* any fleas on any of them.

Could any of it be stress ya think?  We just moved and are getting settled in the new house with new ways of doing things.

My lab gets them from allergies too (not fleas - but environmental).  I find that using Nu Sal T shampoo clears them up, but other shampoos probably work too.

When Ollie had them the vet said it was a staph infection and gave him antibiotics.  BUT  all in all it was from allergies..and a weakened immune system.

I was just going to say the very same thing when reading this post... My Scottie Max gets these on his back... and the clumps of hair is the hair growing through the scab....

Last year I took him to the vet for this and she did a scrape and it was Staph...she gave me a topical oniment to use on them. Bactoderm Oniment. In fact I had to put it on his back today.....

I figured it is an immune problem also... Max is an IBD dog.

Then I wondered if this could be picked up from a pair of clippers at the groomers but then again my Westies don't have them...and as for Alley well she is one big bump and mess 24/7 so I wouldn't give it a second thought to see these on her....

Glad I found this post and that others have experienced this too...
