Mysterious Skin Infection on Female's PP??

My 5 year old bitch (who has NOT been spayed) has recently developed what looks like an infection on her private parts. The skin has taken on a darkish colour & there are medium sized black risen up spots on her vulva. These spots occasionally ooze a dark yellow-white discharge.

The whole area looks like it is covered in a black crustiness with even the hairs having some black substance clinging to the root of the hairs. My dog doesn't seem to be any discomfort & she isn't scratching or licking the area excessively so I don't think it is itchy or painful.

She recently went through her heat & so when  I first noticed it I simply assumed it to be some residue from that but it hasn't gone away. I put my dog in the bath today & using a warm shower and soap, attempted to wash the black residue away but it will not wash away. The spots have a kind of crustiness to them & upon drying my dog, I noticed some dark yellow-white vaginal discharge when I gently wiped the area with her towel.

She has never had anything like this although does occasionally suffer from dry skin suggesting she has mild ezcema. Could it be some kind of skin infection or could it be something worse like a gynaecological problem since some discharge also was secreted vaginally when drying her? I have noticed that she suffers the odd spot to her tummy before as she has very very fine hair underneath & so has a lot of skin on show. Could these just be harmless spots? I am slightly concerned though, simply because she only has these black crusty spots of her private parts & not anywhere else?

I have looked up things on the internet but can't find anything that seems to explain her symptoms? As I say, she doesn't seem to be suffering (i.e. in pain or itching) but I would obviously want to get her treated if this is required? If it is something minor, is there anything I can do to get it to clear itself?

    Any advice, greatly appreciated!![:D]

She could have a life threatening uterine infection and needs to be seen by the vet immediately.

Glenda is absolutely right -- pyometra takes on many 'forms' and can look different in every case.  PARTICULARLY since this dog just went thru heat, she's moving toward 'senior' status and still intact -- the chances of pyometra are astronomical in that case -  VET ... now.  By the time she "acts" sick she likely won't survive.
