Good news update from my last post

Thank you to "[link>http://forum.dog.com/asp/showProfile.asp?memid=7442]janet_rose[/link]" for showing my a link to the AAHA pets fund website where I found that I could get a grant to help pay for Lucy's medical expenses.  Through there and asking around I found a vet optomatrist who was willing to help me get the grant and donate the remainder of the costs needed for her procedures.  She goes in on next Wednesday for the procedures one of which will be not remove the bad eye but more or less kill it....stop it from producing fluids (less invasive and more affordable then removing the eye).  Also there will be some tests and preventitive procedures done on her good eye to keep it that way.  Things are looking up for Lucy and by the end of next week this will all be a lot better.
Just thought I'd share the good news :-)

    Thanks :-)....
I don't call my pets the "critter kids" for nothing....I treat them like kids spoil them that way too.  That's one reason the vet was willing to help with so much was Lucy's medical records show the lengths we have gone to for her over the last four years.  The poor girl has been through so much.  This time was the first time I've had a hard time taking care of anything for her and I was so scared I was going to have to give her up to a rescue or if the pain persisted put her to sleep.  Now I don't have to worry :-).  Oh and in case anyone hasn't seen the pics of my doggie critter kids they're on this post [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=219176&mpage=1&key=𵠨]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=219176&mpage=1&key=𵠨[/link] . :-)

Blind dogs do so well that owners are sometimes shocked to find out that their dog has gone blind.  Since Lucy could lose the other eye in the future, here are some sites on dealing with blind dogs so you are prepared when/if the time comes.  The last link shows available publications and DVDs.
