You could try dipping his feet in tea.....regular brewed black tea....but you really need to try to get to the route of the problem.  he isn't licking his feet cuz they taste good...there is most likely an allergy of some sort causing the licking.

Kenny likely has allergies -- and the feet take a beating because it's the first place they 'show' and the feet walk thru all sorts of green stuff, pollen, etc.

Try swishing Kenny's feet in black tea (plain old Lipton or whatever) once a day and dry with a turkish towel -- it helps.  Be faithful tho -- but it will help.

You may also want to try Benedryl -- can help particularly if it's seasonally worse.

Teach him 'no licking' as a command.  When you see him lick, GO TO HIM and massage the feet and say "no licking, Kenny".  Distract him.  Nothing will make him stop -- they TINGLE and bother him.  And then once started it's an instant habit.

It's scarey when we do that at the same time. *grin*

Ah, but the tea is YOUR idea...I'm just passing it on!

Pouring a cup of Constant Comment for all three of us *smile*.  Sometimes I DO keep the good stuff for me!!LOL

Oooh, Constant Comment is my favorite too.  I will attest to the tea working for the foot itching though.  I ended up putting the steeped tea mix in a squirt (not spray - Sassy hates anything that sprays) and would just squirt some on with a towel underneath to get the excess.  She didn't mind a bit and it stopped the itching better than anything else I tried, and I tried plenty.

I was just describing this to someone tonight on the phone with my husband sitting in the car.  Now it was David who did the "rub-a-dub' game with Billy's feet.

Billy HATED having his feet touched in a big way.  But David would just slip a package of string cheese in his pocket and after each foot Billy would get a tiny pinch of string cheese after the 'rub-a-dub' game with each foot (swish in tea and patted dry with a towel).

it wasn't long before Billy was wanting to cut walks SHORT just to get TO the 'rub-a-dub' game and have his feets done!!  By the time I did it a few times and then we invited folks in his obedience class to do it with him -- now he will let ANY BUDDY touch his feet any old time (with out treats too) just because it means ATTENTION!!

And it still helps the feet.  (Thanks to Dr. DiNatale, my holistic vet for this suggestion)

Something else that may help Kenny is Oxy-Med Itch Relief spray. It is sold at stores like Petco and PetsMart. There is a blue cross on the bottle. Here is a thread about it  :

It is mentioned in the ninth post from the start of the thread. Before Jessie started allergy immunotherapy, the skin on her feet would get red and sore from licking. A product that I found helpful for early infections from either yeast or bacteria is made by DermCare. It is a blue liquid called "Chlor-Cleanse Flush "and  comes in a 4 oz. bottle. It costs about $9.00 but saved a lot of vet visits for antibiotics until Jessie's allergies got worse and the treatments I had used weren't working anymore. I got it at PetsMart. If you think Kenny is licking his feet at night you can try using something to cover his feet. I used MutLuks, which are the boots we had for walking Jessie in the winter. They stay on really well.

OxyMed Itch Relief Spray is awesome stuff!! I have used it and had good luck with it (and it does not stain). I also use "Fooey" spray if they simply won't leave an area alone (works 10x better than Bitter Apple, which my dog ignores)
