the vet said to keep him on a bland diet of chicken and rice. Can I add the pumpkin to that?

Yes, pumpkin helps to normalize the stool.

When it happens, you'll be doing the poopy-dance

We need an icon for the poopy-dance!

Anyway, Sammy FINALLY went this morning, after just about 2 days of nothing.....  it wasn't totally normal yet, but between the bones he ate plus all the rice he's been eating and the pumpkin, it was better than I'd hoped for.

varitek is VERY prone to diarrhea- if i deviate from his normal diet by ONE too many treats, he gets it.

Lucky you.... I'm not envious at all!

i have noticed that if he poops a whole lot in a row, when he's finally feeling better he won't poop right away

Good to know that this situation isn't all that uncommon.  I swear I thought he literally was going to blow up when he finally did go, but he surprised me.....  how he packed 4 meals' worth into a mostly normal-sized poop, well, I hope I never know

Whew, just glad that it seems the worst is past.....  learned some from it at least so in case he ever feels the need to eat another 2 lbs or so of chicken I know what to look for!

Thanks for all the support everyone [:D

I'm so glad things seem to be improving and you can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Thanks for all the support and advice... hopefully he gets to 100% pretty soon and all is better.  Thankfully doesn't seem he needed surgery or anything at least, for which I am grateful.

I did come home yesterday to him playing with my leftover Cadbury eggs from Easter and almost had a heart attack... but he doesn't eat them, just plays with them.  He got into them once before (bad mom I am) and hid them in the couch cushions and under the couch.....  DH didn't know I had any this time ([;)]) so didn't know to pick them up when he left Sammy out of his crate and left for an hour or so.  He likes to toss them in the air and roll them around.... sigh.  I just better eat all of them and be done with it!
