    Bubblegum

So I was up most of the night worrying about this recall stuff....but when I took Bubby out last night for a walk,,,she stopped about 5 times to pee.....I mean a couple of feet from the last time.  So THAT does'nt look good. So I brought her back and then an hour later right before I went to bed...I ran her out and she did the same thing.     This morning before I got up...she was up next to my bed looking at me,,,so I ran her out first thing....WHERE I tried to collect some urine.  HA,,,that was a joke.    I got about 4 or 5 drops. When she squats to pee,,she is touching the ground so when I tried to slip somehing under her she would stop. BUT the little I got was reddish.  I thought blood,,,but then I gave her cranberry juice before bed...didn't know if that could make urine red.   Took it to work this morning,,,and our vet sent me home with antibiotics for 10 days. It WAS blood. She said there didn't seem to be crystals in her urine,,,but she had so little to work with.    She said I see if the antibiotics help.  I called DH and he said she had asked to go out only once while I was at work,,but she kept moving and trying to pee.   Sounds like me when I have a bladder infection.

I hope she feels better soon and that everything turns out to be ok. Sick dogs are a scarey thing since they can't really tell us what they are feeling.

Dyan - had she been eating one of the recalled foods?  I can totally understand how worried you'd be, especially when she was showing signs of a UTI (and yes, I can relate too).  I'm guessing the vet didn't feel an urgent need to do any further testing until you see if the antibiotics work, so is that good sign?  I sure hope she's okay and this is nothing more than the run-of-the-mill UTI.

    Oh, Dyan,

I know you are worried......it it a bladder infection, then?

Has she eaten any of the recalled food?  I wasn't sure from your post.  I remember that you put an egg on top of her kibble.  I don't remember if you top it with canned as well.

I know you fed Eagle pack kibble, so if you did top with the canned, it would not have been alot.  Not that that makes you feel better.....I'm just trying to work out if or how much of the canned food she did eat.

I suppose, tho, that you caught the infection early since she just started peeing alot last night?

Oh no Bubblegum! Gracie says feel better, and BTW, she doesn't like the iron much either. I finally used it in her presence a couple of weeks ago and she was afraid of it!

Hope the antibiotics kick it, and that is just a UTI.  I know you have not been feeding any recalled food.

Oh, Bubby!  I did NOT want to see her name in the Health section...
Poor princess!  I agree, it sounds like the vet isn't overly concerned.  Did the vet give you signs/symptoms to watch out for over the next few days, should this be something other than a bladder infection?
oh, HUGS!  Keep us posted on how she's doing.

Bubby!!  My heart sank seeing your name in here.  The boys & I are all sending our very best vibes your way.  Grady is even throwing in a snout kiss.

Poor Bubby; I hope the antibiotics work quickly. It's a good thing you feed her Eagle Pack and not any of the recalled foods or else you'd be a nervous wreck. Give her some belly rubs for me.

Oh you guys are so nice,,,,THANK YOU!
Bubby does NOT eat any canned food. I do always have a couple of cans in the cupboard just in case I didn't get a chance to cook her meat...but the one can of Eagle has been there probably a year.  I threw another can out of a different brand that the ingredient list looked okay on.....I figured why chance it!   I cook her meat and veggies for her supper kibble....and for sure until all of this recall stuff is figured out..she will not get any canned.
Dr is not all that sure...think she is kind of doing me a favor by going the antibiotic way,,,,to see if it works.  She was concerned about stones...but didn't see crystals..so hopefully it wasn't because she had so little urine sample to work with.  She did say if she didn't get better in a few days that I would have to bring her in for exrays.
She is doing well,,,eating, playing and wanting to go for walks...so hopefully its just a plain old UTI!
Thanks again guys...and yes,,,regardless of the food she eats..I'm still worried. Shes my heart!

    Get better soon, Bubby!!!!!

    Thank you Anne!
Today she seems fine,,,went right out there and pee'd regular. Made me wonder if she should be on antibiotics... ( I really don't like her on any thing ) but then I remembered the blood in the urine...so she will finish them out.   I started giving her Milk Thistle though,,,,and upped her probiotic by a little.   Hopefully that will keep her in balance!

KayCee just finished her antibiotics for her sore spots--long healed--on her back.  I am like you and don't like having them on any drugs that aren't 100% necessary, but didn't want KayCee's little raw spots to get worse.  I know all about not taking ALL the antibiotics.  Hubby is the worst--well, he was, he isn't any longer--in the world about finishing a bottle of antibiotics.  As soon as he felt better, he would stop and have a relapse.

Glad you big baby is doing better.  I still LOVE that Avatar.
