    husky with HOT SPOTS HELP!

My 8 year old Siberian Husky who weighs about 50.7LBS has hot spots on his back (meat spots/little pus), scratches front elbows (scarred), chest (rashes), butt is red (bit his hair out).

He's a retired show dog, I just got him a couple days ago owner told me that he has a habit of scratching. He was on Propac Holistic kibbles and 1000mg of Evening Primrose. Since coming to my home, I'm trying to eliminate kibble allergy by giving him 15.8 oz of minced lamb and supplements:

    Vitamin E 100 I.U X 2

    QBC Complex Quercetin 500mg, Bromelain 50mg, Vitamin C 1250 mg X 1

    Salmon Oil Omega 3 1000 mg X 2

    n*Zymes 291mg X 2

    Multidophilis Lactic Flora X 1

    Spirulina 200mg X 2

For the hot spots, I use diluted Tea Tree Oil to clean and Aloe Vera Gel for application.

Can someone please help me and let me know what I'm doing wrong or what I should do? I'm at my wits end. If I go to the vet, they will probably send me home with some cream. He's such a good and loving dog. I don't want to see him itching and uncomfortable.

I won't be of much help, only want to say that I think you should take him to the vet. You might want to have him allergy tested to see what exactly he is allergic to.

He probably needs a steroid injection to stop the itching for now.  My golden retirever girl, KayCee has enviromental allergies (bermuda grass, live oak pollen, fleas) and gets hot spots from time to time.  If I catch them right away, i have no problem.  I clip back the fur, scrub with hydrogen peroxide and when dry, sprinkle with gold bond powder.  When she was younger and had them  more often, I would take her to the vet each time and he told me to stop wasting my money and to clip and scrub with peroxide (I learned of the gold bond powder on the golden forums I belong to--goldens are famous for hot spots) and if it wasn't improving in a couple of days, then bring her in for an injection.  Has been several years since she had to go in for hot spot.  Oh, it also helps if you invest in one of those 'cones" so the dog can't get to the spot to lick and chew.  If I see KayCee is gettint a spot, I treat it and she wears the cone for a couple of days.

These are such miserbable things and I sure hope you can get them cleared up.

You just got him a couple of days ago,,,,,did he come to you with the hot spots?   I mean, if he didn't have any problems before you got him,,,I sure wouldn't be changing him from what he was on. I like what your doing for him,,but not if its not working.
