What flea preventatives do you use?

As I said in reply to your heartworm question, I use Sentinel precisely because it is reasonably safe AND not only protects against various worms, but also against flea infestations. However, if you live in an area where there are ticks, you should also use Frontline or K9Adv in those months with a heavy tick load (you do not want Lyme for your dog!).[]

We use sentinal, but the vet also suggested we use Frontline as well just to help control fleas during the summer. 

alternate between Frontline Plus and Bio Spot

 I used to use Frontline but have been doing alot of reading about how all these chemicals can affect your dog's nervous system. Too dangerous for me so I've gone totally organic and holistic w/my pets.  Seriously though, when your pets are on an excellent high quality diet, fleas and other pests don't bother them as much. I belong to a group where most of  the members are raw feeders and none of them use any kind of pest control at all... not for fleas, ticks or heartworm and haven't had any problems with them at all.  My dogs haven't had any fleas yet this year but I just ordered a once a month herbal flea & tick repellant from this site here :

I got 24 doses for $20.  Also I'm using food grade diatomaceous earth which can not only be used externally to kill fleas, ticks, etc but can also be used internally to kill parasites.  It can also be used in your house on your carpet and pet bedding as well as outside on your lawn.  Natural is the way to go when you're thinking about the safety and health of yourself and your pets.

Well, I have a dog with a flea allergy so I need something that is really going to work.

I buy Frontline spray because I can use it on everyone in my furry crew (and if I pick up a stray). I can control how much is used, and the bottle I have has lasted forever because I don't use it on a regular basis. If I know Brown and Grey are going where other strange dogs will be, or if I know they're going to be walking through the woods, I'll use it. Otherwise, I haven't had to use it with any regularlity in at least two years and haven't had any problems, although I did experience my first tick ever last month...nasty thing.
 
Anyway, over the years, I tried a few of the other major products...Advantage was okay, but I preferred Frontline Plus. I wasn't a big fan of Advantix, and when I finally adopted a cat, I couldn't use it anymore. I tried Advantix because Brown had a reaction to Frontline after about three years of using it without a problem. I'm not sure what actually happened, but Brown was one of three dogs who ended up at the vet within the same week with that same problem. So after using Advantix for a little while, I reintroduced Frontline and never had another problem.

I use Advantage for fleas or if the ticks are bad Advantix. 
For heartworm prevention I use Sentinel this also includes Program which helps control the flea population.
 
I refuse to use Frontline.

Asthefurflies, I looked at that webpage you recommended but they don't list ingredients for any of their products.  I use Burt's Bees herbal instect repellent for my family and it works wonderfully so I'm open to the idea of an herbal product for my puppy but I'd like to know what's actually in it before I buy it.  Do you know anything more than what they list on their webpage?

I see no photo and ingredient of their products on that website.
