    slimy stuff

hi everyone i dont know if anyone remembers me its been a long time since i have written on here. I was the one that rescued a little stray dog who had a problem with her poop. Well another problem has appeared, whenever she poops there is like a slimy like substance in it. i thought they could be worms but when i fiddled with a bit with a stick i didnt look like worms i dont know what it is and im getting a bit worried. It looks like muccous. And there is also another problem with my baby, she snores alot and sneezes, but she hasnt got a scrunched up nose, a normal nose, but she does not have any trouble breathing, when walking or running,. is that anything serious? [:(]
    xx

Make an appointment with the vet to have your pup checked.  Bring a stool sample as well so it can be tested.

Mucous in the stools can be a sign of colitis or other irritation to the intestines. There are many causes, such as change in food, parasites like Giardia & whipworms (can't really see those), and autoimmune problems. A vet really is the only way to diagnose for sure, and even then, it's tough to pinpoint digestive problems sometimes.

He'll probably start off with a worming and an antibiotic like Metronidazole that can treat protazoal and anaerobic bacteria and also helps with inflammation. Some vets will throw in a steriod like prednisone, too. These are pretty cheap medicines, so if don't worry about cost. You'll probably also be asked to fast your pup for at least 24 hours then use only bland food for 2-3 days. Either a special vet diet or somethng like hamburger & rice.

I noticed in your earlier post that your dog was straining then producing watery stools. This is exactly what my Dal does when his colitis is flaring up. Usually, just fasting him for 24 hours then putting him on a bland diet clears it right up. He had hardly any flareups on a special low-residue diet but had a few lately while I have been trying to find a different food. Usually, high fat sets him off. If your pup is having a hard time, you may need to try a different food. If fat seems to be the culprit, try a low fat food. If that doesn't help, he may need an allergy diet.

No help with th3 poop other than i think what the other posters said makes sense.  But SNORING.  My 7 1/2 year old golden retriever SNORES and I mean snores LOUD.  She has no problem with breathing, lungs are great, no problems with nose, she just snores every once in a while.  I have read manypost on different forums about dogs snoring.

Our lab puppy is about 5 months old and she snores really loud.  She is in great health, all of her vet checkes have been fine.  It just seems that when she sleeps in certain postions she snores.
