Siezures

• Siezures justin russell Posted : 12/14/2006 2:04:49 AM This has been going on for about a year with my 2 year old german shorthair and boarder collie mix.  It usually happens outside but not always and begins with him eatting grass.  Soon after he pukes and then staggers for a little then flops over.  In the beginning he just kind of laid there stiff but now he shakes a little.  Hes down for at most 10 seconds.  Then he gets up and shakes it off and goes back to normal.  It happens at most mabye once every 2 weeks.  At first we thought it was something he was getting into outside but it has happened in mutliple locations.  We took him to the vet and they did a blood test that came up negative.  The vet said it was seizures and to not worry about it until it gets more often.  Any kind of help on this problem would be greatly apprecited. • jennie_c_d Posted : 12/14/2006 4:08:15 PM My epileptic brat dog, Emma, always wants to eat grass before a seizure. I think it's because she becomes so acidic, before she convulses. What blood test did your vet run? What are you feeding your dog? How do you manage his stress? Food and stress management are keys in my dog's treatment program. She cannot have seizure drugs, and has to be managed in other ways. • jennie_c_d Posted : 12/15/2006 9:46:54 PM You need to stop the Beneful NOW. That is the first priority, IMO. Read up on Dogtorj.net, about diet and seizures. By stress, I mean stress. Everybody has it, nobody wants it. It's a part of life, and it triggors seizures. Emma has to be managed so that she doesn't get too stressed when things happen that are not routine.
