    Cure for parvo?! Please read!

My sister recently aquired a stray pitt bull puppy approx a couple months old.  We recently had a puppy die at my house (seperate house than my sister's).  Now my sis's puppy is lethargic and not eating and that's exactly what happened before my puppy died from parvo.  On another dog forum, I read a couple of solutions that sounded interesting:
A couple of ladies used electrolytes and Little Tummys Nausea Relief to bring their dog back from parvo.  A friend of my brother used gatorade on her dog.  All the dogs made it.  Has anyone used these solutions?  I really want to save this puppy!

That is not a cure,, it is merely supportive care with some folks who got lucky.  Parvo is bad news, big time, and it can linger in the ground and on other surfaces.  Bleach is an option to kill it before bringing in another dog.  The best chance of survival is aggressive vet care,,, doesnt always work
I have not personally had to deal with parvo, but I had a friend who brought home a new puppy with parvo, who did not survive.  They were instructed to wash everything that puppy may have come in contact with with bleach and then wait a couple of months before bringing another puppy home.

I hope your story turns out OK.  Please let us know.

In my opinion that advice didn't go far enough.  Parvo can live in the soil for two YEARS or more.  And anything that not only the pup touched, but anything in the house period.  One molecule of parvo can get all over the house on the bottom of a shoe.

Dr. W.O.Belfield, DVM(San Jose, CA), uses the sodium ascorbate form of Vitamin C given intravenously  at two grams per pound of body weight along with medications and fluids to offset vomiting and dehydration.  He said he  tried a lower dosage of   Vitamin C and it didn't work.  Recovery, according to  him, starts within 48 hours  because the  Vitamin C controls the virus and the pet starts to show  signs of recovery.  The vomiting subsides  and even though , at that stage, there is still some diarrhea, it is no longer bloody. During the next 48 hours he gives  a multimineral tablet and a protein concentrate because the pet has not had any food until that time. Around the fourth day the appetite  begins to return and the pet becomes livelier and on the fifth day the pet is sent home restored to health.

Parvo is a viral enteritis similar to the corona virus

    Treatment includes:
    Aggressive intravenous fluid therapy
    antibiotics
    injectible antiemetics
A blood glucose level that is not abnormal (to avoid hypoglycemia)

Keeping the surrounding are clean and fresh

I double checked it in my clinical text for vet techs and it said the same thing. It sounds like your vet is on the right track.
