Advantix for dog... what for the house?

I'm waiting for my dog.com dollars to come from my AKC registration to place my first dog.com order for Advantix for Sci-Fi.

I'm curious, though...  If I treat the dog, what about any fleas that got off before the dog was treated?  Wouldn't they be living in the carpet and then feeding on everyone else, hatching, cycling, etc.?  I don't think I'll get my wife to hold still long enough to treat her with Advantix.

Any suggestions for preventative stuff for the house as well?
Also - not looking to start an Advantix vs. X war but - any suggestions (for reason over pref) to go with something other than Advantix?

Do you have ANY other pets in the house?  Cat or rabbit or whatever?
Advantix is deadly to cats and made my rabbit sick and she died.

First,, Firestorm is correct. If you have any cats around,,,you will want to think Advantage or Frontline for fleas...it could be deadly for cats. I was not aware of it hurting rabbits..but I guess if it did hurt Firstorms rabbit,,,,I would not have it in my house.

But to answer your question about your house...yes. if the fleas are living in your home,,in your carpet or furniture...you need to get rid of them WHILE treating your pets. Raid has a good flea spray for you house. I understand that fleas LOVE hardwood floors so be extra careful in cleaning them and spraying them.  Vacuum your whole house super good before spraying,,and its not a bad idea to put a flea collar in your vacuume bag...so that if you sweep up any fleas/eggs...hopefully the flea collar will kill them.

We have a mouse upstairs but that's the extent of other pets.

    Great suggestions, thanks!
