    Wobblers Syndrome???

I have an 8 mth old Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy and he may have wobblers syndrome. I've had him for a while and he's having problems with simple tasks...like taking a treat from my hand, squatting when he defacates, sitting, and his reflexes are slightly off.  I know that he's a large breed dog and he's still growing into those large feet of his, but something isn't right.  My vet recommended running a series of tests on him...full blood panel work (before and after he's eaten), in addition to having an MRI and some X-rays taken.

I have had a second opinion and the Vet ruled out wobblers.  Does anyone have any experience with wobblers...do my puppy's symptoms sound familiar?

Luckily I have no experience with this but I went to my favorite place, my "doggy bible" Linda Ardnt,,the Great Dane Lady.  She had an article on Wobblers so I am putting in the link for you. I also found another link that was written by someone who had a dog that had wobblers.                                                           [linkhttp://personalpages.tds.net/~jcole/cause%20and%20treatments.htm#top]http://personalpages.tds.net/~jcole/cause%20and%20treatments.htm#top[/link]

Good luck, I hope you get to the bottom of it.

Tauzer, I have had a rescue pup that had similar problems as your baby. It was also ruled out wobblers. The diagnosis was encephilitus (sp) that was causing the jerky motions, and it got to the point the pup would have extreme difficulty walking before it was caught and treated. Lucky she did come out of it with antibiotics and it was very scary to witness.
