    Allergy foods

Hi there.  I guess I'm becoming a regular in this section now, LOL!

I give Willow only one  meal a day of kibble mixed with some meat and her supplements.

She is using the Natural Balance Fish/Sweet Potato right now.  But the kibble is a pretty good size.

Does anyone know of any other allergy formulas or simple formulas (preferably fish) that have a smaller kibble??

    Thanks!!

Sorry I don't know of any Lori, but how bout putting her serving in a plastic bag and smashing a bit with a hammer?

I *think* the California Natural Herring (it's new) has smaller kibble.    I can mail you some, for sample, if you want.

Timberwolf kibble is a little smaller, and they have a fish based one. They call it an allergy diet, but I wouldn't. It's pretty complicated.

What about Barking At The Moon? That isn't exactly simple, either, but it's TINY. It's fish and beef, now.

Orrrrr.... IVD has a catfish and potato diet. I don't know the kibble size, but if you could find a vet near you that sells it, you might be able to get a sample.

We have Julius on Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato (formulated to be simple for dogs with allergies), and it has ;pretty small-sized kibble. He seems to enjoy it a lot, and he's got a beautiful shiny coat since he's been on Wellness. He does have some gas occasionally ( [&:] ;), but that's the only downfall we've noticed from it!

My little Shih Tzu eats the Natural Balance Fish and Sweet potato. They seem like small pieces to me. Do you have another formula, for big dogs or something? The food I have seems small.

Lori, did Willow ever try Eagle Pack? They have Anchovie, salmon and gee I can't remember which other fish,,,but all their kibble seems pretty small...but I don't know what you call small!  I know the Duck seem to be a little bigger than Lamb and not sure where the fish formula falls, but it all seems small to me.

I didn't think the Natural Balance was very big either, and if little Trudy can eat it, then surely Willow wouldn't have a problem, would she [:)]?  I'd say the pieces are about the size of a rounded nickel.  Sassy practically inhales her food, so I can't imagine what she'd do if the pieces were any smaller.

You ARE posting lots on the allergy threads...but it is nice to have you here![;)

I am trying to think...I have fed NB and also fed Pinnacle trout and Sweet Potato and i can't remember if the pinnace was smaller or not.  I don't think so.  Probably the smallest kibble I have used is TWO, but there ocean blue is full of ingredients so not sure how Willow would do with it.

LOL, I totally believe that Trudy would have no problem with a kibble that Willow would act like I gave her a bowl of rocks to eat!  A nickel size kibble for her is HUGE, she like them about 1/4 of a nickel big.  For example, if she had a say something the size of a small Milk Bone, we'd break it in half before giving it to her, or she'd leave it.
    PRINCESS!

The hitting it with a hammer suggestion is great and I already did that because I'm not getting rid of my bag of NB.  And, this is still good though because I'd like to be able to rotate so I'm getting lots of good brand suggestions.

I agree I wouldn't use Timberwolf, I looked at those ingredients and she'd probably never eat it.

Thanks and if anyone thinks of any more please post them here!!

Chasza---Thank you very much but that's one I can't use because of barley.  I'm not positive but I think it's one of the things that flare up her IBS symptoms.

Actually, I am feeding my dog the same Natural  Balance, and at first glance, I thought the kibble would be too small for her to enjoy and she is not a big dog ( 40 pounds)...

Willow, you CAN'T be a bigger princess that Trudy can you??? ha. Well, all doggies are different. What if it was soaked in water? Hope you find a kibble that works for you! Just a thought, are your teeth feeling OK? Let us know if you find a food.

HA, you wouldn't think she could be such a princess considering where she came from.  But, let's just say she's adjusted well to living with me over the years, LOL!

Thank you!  Oh, and her teeth are in great shape, she's fine.  She's always given me a problem with kibble, hard treats, bones anything like that.  She's really got to be in the mood.

She's the type of dog if there is a bone from chicken or steak or something on the street that fell from the garbage or something like that, she'll walk right by it.  Too hard!!

I looked at the size of the Natural Balance kibble last night ( Sweet potato and Fish. ). It is smaller in diameter than a dime, in fact if you have a dime, look at the back at the circular printing around the edge and it fits inside the printing.  It is about as thick in the center which is the thickest part, as a nickle......
